Rainfall 2024: from March to September

The year 2024, being the last year of my 9-year-long research on the astrological prediction of rainfall, I decided to record the Daily Garbottam features for improving the accuracy of predictions. As I started the observation from 29th December 2023, along with Margazhi Garbottam, I realized that the garbottam features were already present in the days prior to 29th December. So, I got the satellite maps from Mr. Balaji Thirugnanasambantham for the week before 29th December and included the relevant dates in the table of Daily Garbottam.

Before I present the table which is relevant for Chennai until September based on the observation done till yesterday, let me give my observations for the entire country from now onwards due to favorable planetary combinations appearing now. Two most important combinations are appearing from April onwards which will cover the SWM period too.

  1. Closeness of Mercury and Venus.

The periods of closeness given in the table below indicate rainfall.

The first period ending on 5th June indicates that the onset of SWM will happen in time within this period. Pre-monsoon showers are also expected. Rainfall continues from 15th June. The closeness of these planets from October to the first week of December shows that NEM will be good. All these were supported by Solar Garbottam for Chennai too.

  • Sun-Mars-Saturn in alternate signs

The three planets Sun, Mars and Saturn coming in alternate or odd signs to each other will cause flood like situations. This year this combination appears as follows:

  • From 14th April to 23rd April
  • From 15th June to 12th July

Within this period we already reported heavy rainfall in the first week of July associated with landslides in the Himalayan States and in North India (https://jayasreeweatherblog.wordpress.com/2024/02/15/foggy-nights-as-described-in-ramayana-foretell-heavy-rainfall/)

There is another important rainfall feature coming up in the same period. The Sun goes on the lead of all the planets on 19th May which ushers in heavy and widespread rainfall.

On 31st May, Venus crosses the Sun to be on the lead. That is likely to be the time of onset of SWM.

The planetary yogas supporting rainfall.

Night of 23rd March:  Venus enters Purva Bhadrapada which is Nirjala Nadi in Sapta Nadi Chakra. It results in cloudy weather but less rain.  The impact region: West coast, western India (because of P.Bhadrapada) and North India and Himalayan States (due to Pisces sign).

26th March – Mercury enters Mesha to join Jupiter with no planets in between. Moon crosses Ketu. Good rainfall. Impact region: Eastern India and Northeastern India.

31st March:  Venus enters Pisces (watery sign) to join Rahu. Rainfall indicated. Impact region: North and Northeast India.

2nd April: Mercury starts retrogression. Some trigger to a meteorological event. Hail storm and dry winds possible. Impact region: N.E India.

9th April: Mercury enters Pisces by retrogression. Rainfall indicated. Impact region: North India.

12th April: Mercury- Venus closeness begins. Rainfall starts. Impact region: North India and East India and east coast of India.

14th April: The sun enters Aries. Saturn, Mars and Sun in alternate signs. Widespread and heavy rains causing flash floods. Impact region: East and West India and west coast. 14th to 23rd April flash floods in North and east India and east coast of India.

19th April:  Venus crosses Mercury to forward position. Spurt in rainfall. Impact region: North India.

24th April: Mercury comes out of retrogression. At 1 degree distance from Rahu. Rainfall. Impact region: North India.

25th April Venus enters Aries to join Jupiter and sun. Rainfall. Impact region: East India NE India.

1st May: Jupiter started crossing over to Taurus. Rainfall indicated. Impact region: North and Northeast India.

10th May: Mercury crosses over to Aries – Mer, Sun, Venus together in Aries. Rainfall. Impact region: East coast

19th May: Sun crosses Jupiter to be on the lead of all planets. Rainfall heavy. Impact region:  South India (Andaman too) Likely to be the onset of SWM in Andaman

On the same day Venus enters Taurus (South India), Mars- Rahu 1 deg distance (north)

24th May: Venus crosses Jupiter. Rainfall. Impact region:South India.

31st May:  Venus crosses Sun to be on the lead of all planets; Mercury enters Taurus to join Sun and Venus in earthy sign. Heavy rainfall. Onset of SWM Impact region: South India.

1st June: Mars enters Aries. Moon in Pisces – rainfall spreads

5th June: Mercury crosses Jupiter. Same day Venus – Sun conjunction.  Some trigger possible for a meteorological event. Impact region: South India.

8th June:  Venus crosses Sun. Heavy rain. Impact region: central India

12th June: Venus enters Gemini. Heavy rain. Impact region: Western India, West coast.

15th June: Sun enters Gemini. Sun, Saturn and Mars in alternate signs. Flood like situation.

Mercury also enters Gemini. Moon crosses Ketu. Impact region: Western India, West coast.

18th June: Mercury crosses Venus. Windy in west but rest of the country will see rains.

Cyclone or depression or a similar event

The next date happens to be 29th June.

On that day, Saturn starts retrogression. At the same time,

(1) Mercury enters cancer, (2) Moon crosses Rahu in Pisces, (3) Venus- Mercury closeness yoga is present (4) Sun-Mars- Saturn are in alternate signs at that time (5) Saturn and Venus are 120 degrees apart (6) Sun and Rahu are 90 degrees apart.

All these being present together, make me think that a meteorological event can take shape on 29th June. Earlier I have shown how the beginning of retrogression of a planet triggers cyclones by analyzing Titli, Luban and Gaja (https://jayasreeweatherblog.wordpress.com/2018/12/24/the-astrological-tale-of-three-cyclones-titli-luban-and-gaja/)

The retrogression starting on 29th June will lead to Stambhita for the next 3 days when the event will gather momentum. Saturn starts the backward movement on 3rd July when there will be landfall or heavy rainfall.

Saturn causing the trigger, its location in Aquarius indicates western region. Venus in the lead in Gemini accompanied with the Sun and Mercury showed western direction. I was a little confused how this will be possible in the period under discussion.

To make sure that there was good Garbottam for 29th June rainfall, I checked the Garbottam days.

29th June 2024 = Aani waning Ashtami.

Margazhi waxing Ashtami was the corresponding Garbottam day. It was 20th December 2023.

I asked Mr. Balaji to check the Insat satellite maps and he confirmed that there was continuous presence of clouds over Maharashtra from 20th to 24th December. The 23rd map is shown below.

By 25th December 2023, the clouds dissipated, but Chennai had a streak of clouds which I observed in daily garbottam.

So, between 20th and 24th December, good garbottam was present over Maharashtra. The trigger I expect on 29th June by Saturn’s retrogression might benefit Maharashtra until 3rd July. At the corresponding Garbottam period, Kerala coast was devoid of cloud cover.

Chennai’s daily Garbottam

From 25th onwards, streaks of cloud started appearing over Chennai. The Insat maps for 26th and 27th are shown below.

The Daily Garbottam chart with rainfall expected dates is given till the time of observation yesterday. Further observation will be posted after two months to cover the period from October to December. Meanwhile I wish to show a photo I saw on Twitter on 2nd December 2023. It looks like morning sky filled with Cirrus clouds. But similar cloud cover witnessed on 27th of February, 2018 resulted in record rains on 8th and 9th August, 2018 in Kerala on the 195th day principle of Daily Garbottam (Scientific astrology behind Kerala floods)

This photo taken on 2nd December 2023 (Karthikai waning Panchami) corresponds to 11th June 2024 (Vaikashi waxing Panchami).

If any reader is aware of this photograph, please inform me about the location. That location is going to see very good rainfall on 11th June, 2024.

Now I will present the table for Daily Garbottam observation for Chennai.

So far, the planetary combinations were given only up to the end of June. I will write a separate post for the rest of the year applicable to all over India.

In the chart two Full moon days are highlighted. There is likely to be continuous rainfall for a fortnight in the corresponding period.

11th and 12th July seem to get heavy rainfall. Starting from Aadi Amavasai, there is good rainfall.

Update on 31st March 2024
